Recap Game #10 vs. Massive Gong Show

idiotref.jpgGood game last Sunday everybody. We gave up a lot of shots but defended the front of the net pretty well, for the most part. For only having 8 skaters it was good.

Of course, Josh played amazingly in net all night which pretty much saved our collective butts from being blown out, as well.

This week’s game is 8:10 at Dublin v. OLT Edge. Please reply to confirm that you will be there. There is a stick and puck at 7:30 at Dublin that night if anybody else feels that three minutes is not enough of a warm-up. The cost would be $12.

Ryan will not be eligible for the next two games, due to the incident near the end of the game last night. After being cross-checked to the back of the head in their crease and taken down, the refs hesitated to make the call. When the whistle was blown due to the frozen puck, Ryan gave the other guy a hefty spear to the chest. so instead of giving both of them 5 minute majors, the refs decide that Ryan gets the major AND 2 game misconductand they only got a 2 minute minor. although it was unsportsmanlike behavior, they still deserved the 5 minute major for the cross-check to the head, regardless.

Recap Game #4 & 5 vs. Puck Hogs & Bombers

Good effort last night, boys. I thought we played better in the second game, the other guys were the ones standing around and watching us get to loose pucks. I also thought we were backchecking much better in the second game and recovering the puck after a missed or blocked shot in the offensive zone.

A couple of other things I noticed … Read more »

Recap Game #4 vs. Team AlphaGraphics

We played a great game last night guys, tieing 1-1 in OT. Even with Ryan out sick, we still managed to get a lot of opportunities and pucks on net. We also did a great job of shutting them down in neutral territory. Their only goal came on a centering pass from the low corner that unfortunately ricocheted right off of Mark Fletcher’s stick and past Josh. For some reason we seem to be our own worst enemies this session. I bounced one behind Josh last week against Columbus fire and Rick had one off his stick the previous week. Hopefully we can keep our sticks on the right side of the puck from here on out.

Other than that, they had very few good scoring opportunities and Josh was right there in the way, aside from … Read more »

Recap Game #3 vs. Columbus Fire

Guys that was a great effort last night. We actually played a very good game despite officially only losing 6-5. After all, they are one of the best teams in this C2 division. The score sheet shows 7-5 but they incorrectly attributed 4 goals to #50 so they have to scratch one off. After watching the previous week’s game between Columbus Fire and Alpha Graphics we were thinking we would get blown out. Aside from a few terrible scrambles in front of our net, we cut them off quite well defensively. Without my accidental tip in off the back of my stick, we would have been tied.

We were passing decently in neutral ice and creating opportunities into their zone. We also stayed out of the penalty box all night which was a huge benefit. If we keep playing like this together we are going to … Read more »

Recap Game #2 vs. OLT Edge

What a great first C2 win tonight guys! Way to skate hard and stay with these guys. It was a very even matchup as things went back and forth the whole game. They got a couple of ugly put backs on rebounds which made the difference. We need to figure out how to jam things up better in front of our net so other teams can’t get those opportunities. Likewise, we need to get our forwards to the net as fast as possible when shots are taken to recover the rebounds and get the secondary opportunities of our own.

Excellent work again by Josh in net coming up with some amazing saves on those second chances. There were several pucks destined for the top shelf that were quickly gloved. Way to use the post on the penalty shot also. :) With only 5 seconds left in the 3rd period it was all or nothing with the score … Read more »
